The Westerklief stone

This is an old part of Wieringen, where mainly farmers lived. The clefts belong to the higher parts of Wieringen. The Varkensgrasweg and the Hoelm are located between Westerklief and Westerland. Westerklief is known for the "stien." This stone dates from the penultimate ice age and is one of the largest from this period. The children were told that the stien would turn when he heard the clock chime. Many children have waited in vain for this.
